Outfit of the Day: Summer gives me Butterflies

Hi Sweeties!

This post is going to be a big one only because I have a lot to say about she inside or well now shein.com I have been looking at Sheinside for a very long time maybe over a year and a half now. I was skeptical about the whole process of ordering from China. And then there were the horror stories circulating all over the web, when you look up their reviews. I finally caved in and decided to order! I ordered 3 dresses which believe it or not arrived in 5 days minus one which ran out of stock. Yes I understand that hiccups happen. Some other big brands have ran out of stock on me before so hey…it happens to all of them. They were nice enough to ask me if I’d like my money returned or if I’d like to exchange for something else.  I took my sweet time and finally picked this beautiful butterfly dress pictured below. There was a price difference…and they were sweet enough to write it off! Needless to say they are my new fave online shopping destination and with the prices who wouldn’t shop there?

I wore this dress out and about in Old Towne area of Alexandria. The town has a quiet and beautiful feel. Tons of small business stores, yummy restaurants and bars and a waterfront. I go there with my husband a lot when I need to clear my hand and just relax. The weather has been off lately and it has been pouring a lot. So we always have to be prepped with umbrellas or run for shelter in a restaurant. Please don’t mind my hair if it appears too poufy, it was all thanks to the humidity and rain that day.

By the way dress is very unique. It has  layer of satin with butterflies on it and then the top layer is organza which has the same butterfly print. As you move, the butterflies come to life! In almost a 3d fashion! I love love love this dress!

Let me know what you think and if you have ever shopped at Shein.com (PS THIS IS NOT A PAID POST AT ALL! I AM JUST REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS STORE 🙂 )

Outfit Post: 4th of July Red, White and Blue!

Hi Lovelies,

I know I have had a long break but I can explain and I might need a few posts to catch you all up. But to summarize. I have officially moved out of Maryland and into VA (bordering DC) as of February. Somehow my hope of having more time with less commute to work turned rough and I first ended up getting severely sick for about a month and a half and then ended up with carpel tunnel, sprained ankle, a hurt knee and a hurt elbow…haha it wasn’t fun. It was pretty depressing but I am mostly fixed. I am currently thriving in hand splints that I have to wear all day but I can take them off if I am planning to relax and not use my hands. Another 6 weeks of physical therapy should have me all fixed…phew! But here I am finally..stronger than you guys last remembered me! haha

Soooooooo I have missed each and ever one of you. For those of you who reached out to me thank you for checking on me and I tried to respond the best I could with messed up hands.

Okay lets dive into my 4th of July! Weather here in DC/VA has been pretty erratic! It has been randomly pouring like cats and dogs when it isn’t even forecasted but we knew Saturday was going to be wet and humid. After a back and forth discussion we decided to go out. We had just gotten to the National Mall when it started to rain. We took refuge in one of the galleries where my husband spent time taking pictures. Photographers find beauty in everything. Since it continued to pour we decided to head to our fave Happy Hour at Las Tasca. By the time we got out the clouds had parted. I did meet some cool people that day at the Happy Hour as well as when we sat down at National Mall waiting for the fireworks. You get to meet tons of cool out of towners on days like these.

I wore ofcourse a red white and blue outfit. Since it was hot wet and humid, I kept my outfit flowy and cool. The top is actually a hi low top. The front is the length of the regular tank top but the back goes all the way down to your knees. I decided to roll it up and tie it in the back as a bow, to keep it airy. As you can see the humidity got to my hair pretty fast but oh well….we can do it all for being patriotic. Let me know how you spent your 4th of July and feel free to share links and images of your 4th of July outfit down below in the comments!

Outfit Post: Last bit of warmth, florals and H&M Studio 2014

Hi lovely,

Life is just getting busier and busier on my end. My work day is getting extensively long with several crazy work projects currently on my plate. I am hoping this job will really make me push the boundaries of having to make decisions. I like being the voice of reason as an IT person. I tell people their options what is good and bad…then suggest solutions. I don’t like to sign my name off on these decisions…but now? I have to. So I am learning to be a bit more comfortable with it. I am also launching my self improvement before my birthday this November. I have over time become so lost in the world and drifted so far away from the girl that I knew and used to like being. When some turmoil happens in the world, I used to get upset and cry…now? Now I get mad…it’s one thing to spread awareness, its another to feel angry. I’d rather cry and try to change the world than be mad and change the world. You don’t put negative in the world when trying to eliminate it …kind of sounds stupid.

So…this year, I am going to take myself back from where I came, be the nice polite girl I used to be. Change needs to be mental, emotional and ofcourse physical. I am trying to squeeze gym time in the 3 hours I get each night before bed, it is really tough because I can’t work out after eating and by the time I get home, I am starving. But when there is a will there is a way.

Now to the outfit. I saw this top online at H&M website as a part of their Studio Fall and Winter 2014 collection. It never arrived in my local stores by where I live unfortunately. But I was too scared to buy the top online. It oddly started at a size 6 and I am a size 2 or a 4 depending on what the material is. Lo and behold before I could even think, it was sold out in 2 hours! Well…womp womp womp. But the following weekend I was hanging out with Hubby and his bestfriend in DC…and decided to check out a store in DC. Wellllll there was this top staring at me in the face and one size 6 was smiling at me. I tried it on and somehow it fits! And fits beautifully. Soooo it came home with me. I was going to wait till November to wear it on my birthday with something flowy at the bottom but I know its going to be cold then. It is always harder to picture such items in winter cause you don’t want to die of pneumonia outside! Let me know what you guys think?

Outfit Post: Skater Stripes and Crop Top with a flash of red!

Hi lovelies,

As I put this post up, I have a confession to make: I am a crop top addict. I have been living in them nonstop for the last few weeks. I think I have also accumulated a trillion of them. And my husband isn’t of any help either when it comes to this addiction. He himself at several occasions came home with a handful of them for me to try and keep. I know come winter time I will have to remedy this addiction. My second addiction also came out of nowhere. I hated stripes! yes I said it I hated stripes. I would always wonder who wants to buy these but this year as the stripes hit everywhere, I have become a big fan of them especially the typical black and white one! so simple yet there is so much you can do to upgrade it. Now lets take the skirt for this example! I first saw this h&m skirt on the website and I awaited its arrival eagerly….only to find out it will never make it to the stores in our state. I called all 3 stores near me and no one had seen the skirt. The skirt was sold out online except in size 2. SCORE  i thought only catch- lately I have been in between 2 and 4 size at H&M….sometimes I fit a 2 and other times a 4. I mustered up courage and placed my first ever online clothing order. By the time I placed the ordered I had already looked for the skirt for over a month. All of a sudden it was spotted in a nearby mall and I decided to just try it on. WHOOPS i cant fit a 2! I decided to buy the 4….only to come home and realize I placed the 4 back on the rack and brought home another 2! Finally after owning two of these skirts and having to return them with my size not available in the store anymore, I finally spotted a 4 again online on the website! I immediately ordered it and thankfully this time everything worked out beautifully. I love the skirt and everyone who has heard about the fiasco of this story agreed that it was worth the drama. I mean girls who have heavier bottoms (aka me) just dont fit right in skater skirts and dresses. There is no twirling room but this skirt is perfect for our body type. So i had to have it! Unfortunately couple other family requested I find this for them only….well the skirt is nowhere to be found anymore to everyone’s disappointment.

Let me know what you think about it- was it worth the hassle?

Outift Post: Cropped Cat and Girly Pink

Hi Lovelies,

The weather here on east coast is still playing mind games. We are still living in 50 degree days with one or two sporadic 68 degree days. I have officially quit the part time job in hopes that it will give me more time to do other things such as REST lol. It did get a bit overwhelming with a full time job and pursuing my masters degree. I would have kept it if only they weren’t making me close every single weekend till 12 in the night knowing I have to be at work the Monday morning.

Anyway this is the scuba skater skirt that Miranda Kerr was wearing in the H&M ad. When I set my eyes on the skirt online I knew I have to have it once it hit the stores. Luckily I got there just in time to snag my skirt. It was only a cheap 14 bucks too. I love the weight of the skirt because it is definitely made of thick material and can be worn in cold weather with some stocking or leggings.  I always try to look and see how others are wearing the items I am buying and I was pretty disappointed to see that most people who bought this skirt wore it exactly how Miranda Kerr wore it in the ad with a soft white blouse. I wanted to be creative, I came up with the cute look which is ofcourse what I am wearing in the picture below and several more sophisticated looks which I will be picturing the rest of the summer so check back for those look. Let me know how are you holding up in this crazy bipolar weather?

Outfit Post: Snow Storm Wolf

Hi lovelies,

Another terrible snowstorm is upon us and as promised I am bringing you another outfit post that will help you keep yourself warm. You can wear it the way I was wearing it because the hat is pretty warm or you can throw a jacket on top to be warmer. Healthwise I am doing alot better and will be doing a very important post soon on what will help your stomach heal faster than anything else, an item whose power alot of people in today’s world under estimate. I talked to several people at work or in my friends circle about the whole concept and everyone was just drawing a blank except maybe one or two people. It was quite shocking that people do not know the concept of alkaline and acidic food when it comes to eating.

Anyway back to the outfit. The hat was a gift this past Christmas from hubby dearest. He knew how much I liked my other all black one he got me and knew that I was eyeing this one on Amazon. I love huskies and wolves and it ultimately reminds me of them. I have no intentions of ever turning into an animal. These hats just appeal to me due to the cuteness and warmth they provide. I love how the paws come attached and you can actually needle them throw the sleeve of your jacket and they turn into mittens/gloves to keep you warm! It is weird to be posting constant snow pictures while our fellow bloggers over in the other warmer parts of the US and the world are posting pictures in shorts already! I can’t wait for spring but for now today is another day for me to pull out my furry things out!

Let me know what you think of the outfit and what are you doing to keep yourself warm in this insane year of winter?

Outfit of the Day: Winter Warmth

Hi Lovelies,

My life and the weather has alot in common these days. Alot happening all at once and I am letting it all sink in. On this particular day It was an unbelievable almost 60 degrees and then there came snowfall again the following day. I am getting a bit out of shape again unfortunately due to spending the entire month of January and February sick which restricted my mobility and ability to exercise.  I am big fan of form fitted clothing and on this occasion I put a loose sweater on top of my skater style dress. I actually like how well it turned out. I always thought bulky clothes will weigh me down but I guess alot has changed over the years. I was also tired of the all black and dark garb everyone is sporting these days everywhere and wanted to add some color to my outfit. The layering also kept me super warm granted now us east coast people are used to the bitter cold of states like Colorado and Wisconsin. I am sure those of you who actually live there snickered at my last statement. I mean come on I have been brave enough to bare my legs in 45 degree weather which I used to consider lets wrap myself up in 15 layers of clothing day 🙂

Let me know what you think of the outfit.

Outfit Special: Working your Outfit at Work

Hi Sweeties,

As much as I like yo show you guys my fun and carefree side in my regular outfit posts, I realized a whole aspect of work outfits that I put on is missing. Most of the time it happens due to lack of time to take pictures and I am also not a big believer in wearing make up everyday of my life. It is only a weekend thing for me or when I go out to get togethers or special occasions.

My fave work attire consists of Pencil Skirts and my newfound love for blazers is still going strong from last year. I think I currently own about 6 blazers and I might just be adding a few here and there if I find the right fit and colors :). Anyway this was worn for a work event and I wanted to look a bit more polished hence the statement necklace and makeup. We took atleast a 100 pictures but I was squinting in every single one. My camera man husband loves natural light which means he expects to stare directly into the sun haha. Hence I only was able to find a few decent pictures.

Now with being able to wear dress shoes again the world of possibilities is endless this fall. What will I wear to work? Leggings? Tights? More pencil skirts? Skinny pants or dress pants? hmm why don’t you subscribe and find out.

PS: I am currently working on keep it classy at work so when I mentioned tights and leggings haha I mean to find appropriate ways of wearing them 🙂DSC06395

My Big Secret Reveal and Labor Day Weekend Outfit Post

Hi sweeties!

I haven’t had a chance to put up any outfit posts for a while. It was due to lack of time and also my tendonitis making me live in my sneakers so most of my outfits comprised of shorts and rolled up skinny jeans. Anyhow so what is the big secret reveal today?

For those of you who have been following me loyally have caught on that I had a foot ailment which made me live in ugly doctor prescribed shoes! Well well well what do we have here in this outfit post? A NEW PAIR OF SHOES! I finally was able to find the perfect pair of custom made shoe insert that will let me wear flat shoes like normal human beings! I have been wearing them the entire last week and most people noticed an immediate change in my sense of style. Granted I always put an effort into my clothes but now its a piece of cake. The idea of putting outfits together doesnt bog me down anymore from time to time due to my lack of shoe choices. Anyway I am proud owner of three new flat shoes 🙂 And will be adding to my collection overtime. Maybe just maybe one day I can start wearing heels again. If any of you out there are having foot issues feel free to talk to me over here or on my FB page. I would like to help people attain the same freedom I finally achieved.

Anyway back to Labor Day weekend. It was a fun weekend filled with just Hubby and me. Him and I did alot of fun things well things that I mostly enjoy with him. We went out on the town on Saturday and Sunday.  I danced the night away trust me when I said I danced…I DANCED for 5 hours straight with no foot pain which made me feel normal again. That also helped burn tons of calories lol. I had already swam and worked out that morning so all of a sudden everything is feeling more snitched up. We were up late at night so I was too tired to go to my coworkers cookout for labor day but I somehow dragged myself to get some errands done as well as grab some Ritas! Oh not to forget my aunt brought my kiddos (lil cousins) to our pool and it was fun swimming with them. It was awkward being around my family in a swim suit but thankfully I wasn’t wearing a two piece.

How was everyone else’s Labor Day?

4TH of July Update and Outfit

Hi sweeties,

I am only a few days late haha but thought I’d still share my outfit ideas of how I am coping with living 24/7 in my tennis shoes and still trying to incorporate Holidays and Outings. If I have learnt anything from being injured on and off is that you have to make do with what you can. Giving up on dressing as a girl only drags you down. I told myself last time “Never again will an injury take away from my sense of style”. Ofcourse it isn’t going to be as impeccable as my outfits that I wear on a regular basis without tennis shoes but practice makes perfect.

For 4th of July I went to my aunt’s house for a cookout with our entire family. The indoors at all my relatives’ houses are extremely cold and I freeze to death so I always take a blazer or sweater with me. Those are always easily removable when you walk outdoors when layered with a tank top. I don’t wear shorts around my family so jeans had to make do. I had later on changed into a pair of shorts to go see the fireworks with the hubbster and friend. I was still in a bit of pain so walking was out of question. We didn’t make it all the way to the lake but the point was good company and fireworks 🙂 Unfortunately I by mistake deleted the pictures from the camera we took that day when trying to move them onto my laptop!!! Still somewhat annoyed about that so I am pulling pictures from my cellphone that I took for instagram. Thank God for cellphone and instagram.

PS I decided to make this look more festive by doing Red white and blue makeup on my eyes and Nail art. Let me know what you think!
