Outfit of the Day: Summer gives me Butterflies

Hi Sweeties!

This post is going to be a big one only because I have a lot to say about she inside or well now shein.com I have been looking at Sheinside for a very long time maybe over a year and a half now. I was skeptical about the whole process of ordering from China. And then there were the horror stories circulating all over the web, when you look up their reviews. I finally caved in and decided to order! I ordered 3 dresses which believe it or not arrived in 5 days minus one which ran out of stock. Yes I understand that hiccups happen. Some other big brands have ran out of stock on me before so hey…it happens to all of them. They were nice enough to ask me if I’d like my money returned or if I’d like to exchange for something else.  I took my sweet time and finally picked this beautiful butterfly dress pictured below. There was a price difference…and they were sweet enough to write it off! Needless to say they are my new fave online shopping destination and with the prices who wouldn’t shop there?

I wore this dress out and about in Old Towne area of Alexandria. The town has a quiet and beautiful feel. Tons of small business stores, yummy restaurants and bars and a waterfront. I go there with my husband a lot when I need to clear my hand and just relax. The weather has been off lately and it has been pouring a lot. So we always have to be prepped with umbrellas or run for shelter in a restaurant. Please don’t mind my hair if it appears too poufy, it was all thanks to the humidity and rain that day.

By the way dress is very unique. It has  layer of satin with butterflies on it and then the top layer is organza which has the same butterfly print. As you move, the butterflies come to life! In almost a 3d fashion! I love love love this dress!

Let me know what you think and if you have ever shopped at Shein.com (PS THIS IS NOT A PAID POST AT ALL! I AM JUST REALLY EXCITED ABOUT THIS STORE 🙂 )

Outfit Post: 4th of July Red, White and Blue!

Hi Lovelies,

I know I have had a long break but I can explain and I might need a few posts to catch you all up. But to summarize. I have officially moved out of Maryland and into VA (bordering DC) as of February. Somehow my hope of having more time with less commute to work turned rough and I first ended up getting severely sick for about a month and a half and then ended up with carpel tunnel, sprained ankle, a hurt knee and a hurt elbow…haha it wasn’t fun. It was pretty depressing but I am mostly fixed. I am currently thriving in hand splints that I have to wear all day but I can take them off if I am planning to relax and not use my hands. Another 6 weeks of physical therapy should have me all fixed…phew! But here I am finally..stronger than you guys last remembered me! haha

Soooooooo I have missed each and ever one of you. For those of you who reached out to me thank you for checking on me and I tried to respond the best I could with messed up hands.

Okay lets dive into my 4th of July! Weather here in DC/VA has been pretty erratic! It has been randomly pouring like cats and dogs when it isn’t even forecasted but we knew Saturday was going to be wet and humid. After a back and forth discussion we decided to go out. We had just gotten to the National Mall when it started to rain. We took refuge in one of the galleries where my husband spent time taking pictures. Photographers find beauty in everything. Since it continued to pour we decided to head to our fave Happy Hour at Las Tasca. By the time we got out the clouds had parted. I did meet some cool people that day at the Happy Hour as well as when we sat down at National Mall waiting for the fireworks. You get to meet tons of cool out of towners on days like these.

I wore ofcourse a red white and blue outfit. Since it was hot wet and humid, I kept my outfit flowy and cool. The top is actually a hi low top. The front is the length of the regular tank top but the back goes all the way down to your knees. I decided to roll it up and tie it in the back as a bow, to keep it airy. As you can see the humidity got to my hair pretty fast but oh well….we can do it all for being patriotic. Let me know how you spent your 4th of July and feel free to share links and images of your 4th of July outfit down below in the comments!

Outfit Post: Skater Stripes and Crop Top with a flash of red!

Hi lovelies,

As I put this post up, I have a confession to make: I am a crop top addict. I have been living in them nonstop for the last few weeks. I think I have also accumulated a trillion of them. And my husband isn’t of any help either when it comes to this addiction. He himself at several occasions came home with a handful of them for me to try and keep. I know come winter time I will have to remedy this addiction. My second addiction also came out of nowhere. I hated stripes! yes I said it I hated stripes. I would always wonder who wants to buy these but this year as the stripes hit everywhere, I have become a big fan of them especially the typical black and white one! so simple yet there is so much you can do to upgrade it. Now lets take the skirt for this example! I first saw this h&m skirt on the website and I awaited its arrival eagerly….only to find out it will never make it to the stores in our state. I called all 3 stores near me and no one had seen the skirt. The skirt was sold out online except in size 2. SCORE  i thought only catch- lately I have been in between 2 and 4 size at H&M….sometimes I fit a 2 and other times a 4. I mustered up courage and placed my first ever online clothing order. By the time I placed the ordered I had already looked for the skirt for over a month. All of a sudden it was spotted in a nearby mall and I decided to just try it on. WHOOPS i cant fit a 2! I decided to buy the 4….only to come home and realize I placed the 4 back on the rack and brought home another 2! Finally after owning two of these skirts and having to return them with my size not available in the store anymore, I finally spotted a 4 again online on the website! I immediately ordered it and thankfully this time everything worked out beautifully. I love the skirt and everyone who has heard about the fiasco of this story agreed that it was worth the drama. I mean girls who have heavier bottoms (aka me) just dont fit right in skater skirts and dresses. There is no twirling room but this skirt is perfect for our body type. So i had to have it! Unfortunately couple other family requested I find this for them only….well the skirt is nowhere to be found anymore to everyone’s disappointment.

Let me know what you think about it- was it worth the hassle?

Outfit Post: Cool Summer in Fall?

Hi lovelies,

This week came an amazing surprise – a 70 degree day in November on the east coast! That is something I hadn’t even imagined in my wildest dreams. To make my little self miserable it was my work from home day where I am glued to the computer like the IT nerd that I am. But I decided to dress up and take a few pictures of my outfit on my lunch break and once I was done working I decided to run a few quick errands a little too dressed up for them…but hey I wasn’t going to miss out on this beautiful day. I am oohing and aahing at all the Cali, Miami and Texas bloggers who are living their lives jacket less and wearing cute crop tops and skirts still maybe this was my birthday present from the weather Gods? Why question it when all I had to do was enjoy the day 🙂

Outift Post: It was my birthday!

Hi lovelies,

My birthday was last Monday and all I wanted to do was sit at home in my PJs and chill. I think I am finally at the point where I wanted to be overworked and happy! Yes you read it right…I hate being free. I recall when I was really busy last year, I complained all the time. I whined and whined but being extremely free this past summer made me realize you know what? I actually prefer being tired and knocked out at the end of the day. It helps me retain more energy and do alot more in my day then I can when I more time and less work.

I am a year older and definitely wiser than last year. Actually my birthday week proved to be the week of wisen-ing up(is that a word?). A week of self discovery. I have officially put in my 2 weeks at the second part time job I had started a month ago at the semi High End store. I might talk alittle about what I experienced there and sometimes how bad management can easily loose very good employees constantly. But I realized how my core values and principles need to align with the place I work with. I can not stand behind something I don’t believe in even a little bit. I also learnt how some people can be soooo stuck in their ways and guidelines provided by corporate offices(who ofcourse don’t even deal with public directly) that they won’t even see their own failing store and market. The looks of annoyed and frustrated customers just goes beyond their comprehension. And no matter how useful I proof by not following ALL the guidelines they still don’t realize that a good customer service is not a set of written down rules but ensuring that each customer walks out happy! It is not the path you take to get the customer to that point but the destination is what matters.

Anyway so for my Birthday we just went out for some Dinner at Eggspectation and dessert & coffee at La Madeline. Eggspectation never ceases to amaze me! I have not had anything over there that I haven’t been overjoyed about. And this latest dish on their Fall menu called Chop Steak is to die for! Hubby got Lobster Mac and Cheese which pretty delicious as well and as always I got the butternut Squash Soup. The soup is more like a dessert to me but its very warming in such cold weather. We also brought a slice of Apple Pie cheesecake which I devoured without even taking a picture but it is the best cheesecake I have ever had. The center is actually filled with applie pie filling. Sooo sooo good! I was too tired to take alot of pictures so we only have a few from that day. Enjoy!

Outfit Post: Monochromatic British Love

Hi All,

The fall is coming and stores are currently laden with monochromatic black, white and neutral goodies! Which seems to be working out perfectly for me as I was a big black clothing lover pre blog days. I was very keen to wear a black wedding dress to which my mother’s response was always “It is supposed to be a wedding not a funeral”. And in the end I wore white for my hubby and red (the traditional dress for my culture) for my family.

I have also been frolicking around the world due to my Dad’s job and England was one of my most favorite places in the whole wide world. Hence when we spotted these leggings both Hubby and I knew it belonged in my closet. I have never been a fan of wearing leggings without a longer top but these leggings seem to have the right cut and pattern to help you not feel super conscious having your derriere hanging out.

I am also taking advantage of whats left of somewhat warmish of a weather to get some crop top time in without a blazer or jacket because there is noway we on the east coast are going to be able to rock our crop tops without covering up real good in heavy jackets. Lucky Cali and Florida folks can live it up for me once it gets cold here 🙂

I had chosen this outfit for  a day trip to the mall and then later lunch with the hubby. I think every girl wants to be a little rough and tough every now and then and it was that kind of a day for me 🙂

P.S I am putting in a picture of my beloved camera man in this post too for those of you who have always wondered who the man behind the camera is and what sense of style does he own 🙂

Outfit Post: Cropping it up through a sea of blue mini skirt

Hi lovelies,

I have been saving up all my crop tops for when I get back in shape and I think I am slowly getting there. I had envisioned wearing crop tops with a high waisted skirt. That sounded like the most ideal way for me to wear it since I love pencil or skin tight skirts. I still haven’t had a chance to wear it with a blazer as the weather hasn’t been cold enough yet. But I am planning to do alot of that this fall and winter.

On this particular day Hubby and I decided to go out and about for coffee and then some dinner. It is kind of a risque style for where I live because this outfit more particularly fit better in Cali, NYC or Europe. But that didn’t stop me from wearing it. My hubby always says that my style doesnt belong in the state we reside in and I guess that is what I have inherited living in 3 different continents and 4 different countries all through my life growing up.  Atleast I didn’t get any angry or upset look so I would chalk it up as maybe more people will start trying out this trend here or just might be more accepting of the trend.

My Big Secret Reveal and Labor Day Weekend Outfit Post

Hi sweeties!

I haven’t had a chance to put up any outfit posts for a while. It was due to lack of time and also my tendonitis making me live in my sneakers so most of my outfits comprised of shorts and rolled up skinny jeans. Anyhow so what is the big secret reveal today?

For those of you who have been following me loyally have caught on that I had a foot ailment which made me live in ugly doctor prescribed shoes! Well well well what do we have here in this outfit post? A NEW PAIR OF SHOES! I finally was able to find the perfect pair of custom made shoe insert that will let me wear flat shoes like normal human beings! I have been wearing them the entire last week and most people noticed an immediate change in my sense of style. Granted I always put an effort into my clothes but now its a piece of cake. The idea of putting outfits together doesnt bog me down anymore from time to time due to my lack of shoe choices. Anyway I am proud owner of three new flat shoes 🙂 And will be adding to my collection overtime. Maybe just maybe one day I can start wearing heels again. If any of you out there are having foot issues feel free to talk to me over here or on my FB page. I would like to help people attain the same freedom I finally achieved.

Anyway back to Labor Day weekend. It was a fun weekend filled with just Hubby and me. Him and I did alot of fun things well things that I mostly enjoy with him. We went out on the town on Saturday and Sunday.  I danced the night away trust me when I said I danced…I DANCED for 5 hours straight with no foot pain which made me feel normal again. That also helped burn tons of calories lol. I had already swam and worked out that morning so all of a sudden everything is feeling more snitched up. We were up late at night so I was too tired to go to my coworkers cookout for labor day but I somehow dragged myself to get some errands done as well as grab some Ritas! Oh not to forget my aunt brought my kiddos (lil cousins) to our pool and it was fun swimming with them. It was awkward being around my family in a swim suit but thankfully I wasn’t wearing a two piece.

How was everyone else’s Labor Day?

Hi sweeties,

I am not sure if everyone feels this way but I definitely have completely opposing styles which I switch back and forth between. One day I want to be sweet and innocent and next day I chose to be sophisticated and sleek. Then there are days where I just want to drone on leather and kick some behinds – not literally or..well maybe haha. But sometimes I wake up and go oooo I really want to mix one with the other and confuse people out there. That is exactly how this outfit got birthed.I wanted to wear lace but I didn’t want to be a sweetheart. I wanted to be mildly bad ass and that is exactly what I did with the cropped tap and my cropped leather jacket. Dont ever be afraid of mixing different styles, if mixed well they can be extremely well put together.

Anyway I was glad that it was a slightly chilly day and my leather jacket was a much needed garment. I have noticed as long as I cover my arms or my legs on a slightly chilly day, I can skate by without freezing to death. I have been diligently working out and I see some changes already in my legs but I am not done yet. I need to kick back the fitness posts up so I can explain how I achieved the results you are witnessing in these pictures.  The day was spent forlicking around town, eating lunch with the hubby and running a few errands 🙂

Taming down the Neon trend!

Hi friends!

I have been enjoying summer like the world is about to come to an end. Last week I was out the entire weekend except when it was time to go to sleep and sleep only lasted about 4 to 5 hours a night. But I am thankful and glad I was able to spend some much needed time with close friends (when I say close I mean people I will die for) and family.  I also got some much needed time with the boys aka hubby’s troop! I understand sometimes they get a bit much when all they want to do is sit and play video games non stop. Now don’t get me wrong I am actually down with playing video games but when I play with them, they take a bit too easy on me. Come on…just cause I am a girl doesn’t mean we can’t have a fair fight. Anyway all this brought back the gamer in me. I remembered the days when me and my older brother would spend hours playing video games as kids and teenagers. So I decided to invest in my own controller and a game that really interested me- injustice gods among us anyone?

Anyway now the outfit in the pictures. I have been meaning to wearing some neon for quite some time now. It is actually the trend of the year.I have to say, this outfit surprised me- I knew it looked good but I didn’t know it actually would picture this well. I wanted to tame the neon a bit because when we think wearing neon we think over the top, casual or beachy. But I thought pairing it with sheer lace peplum top and metallic belt gave it a very sophisticated and evening look. You can actually wear this look to family get togethers, dinner parties or even just a romantic dinner. Gosh you could even do night out with friends or what not.  I have even considered wearing it to work! Well my job we do very formal outfits on special events days otherwise we can be business casual- where we will sometimes sporadically find coworkers leaning too close to casual on days they aren’t dealing with public but we never wear Jeans! -never!!!!

Hope everyone is doing well and let me know if you are planning to jump on the neon trend this summer?
